Like the Oscars, Emmy's, Tony’s, Grammy’s and the NFL Heisman Trophy our time as an Awards Show Come.

There was that special golden time in Bodybuilding, fitness, modeling and the sports industry where athletes were honored. This by no means was limited to just the stars. No, we honored those that made the magic come alive as well; the writers, photographers, magazine editors, science writers, cover models, models and entrepreneurs who risked it all with their equipment and supplement companies or stores etc. I was not just one magazine we were focusing in on. No! We wanted every fitness, bodybuilding, and swim suit, health and nutrition magazine world wide to step up to the plate to show their best work and see who the best were. There were many! This came about like in so many other Awards shows. The Heisman trophy, Hall of Fame Awards in all major Sports.

With this idea in mind I approached Joe and Ben Weider to do a Bodybuilding Hall Fame and an Academy of Bodybuilding Fitness and Sports Awards. The year was 1984 the Weider brothers liked the idea and sent me a special letter of acknowledgment and their approval. It wasn't’t until 1988, until the foot dragging stopped and we did our first big Academy of Bodybuilding and Fitness Awards Show. It was more work that I care to tell you but after the CPA counted the last vote. Joe Weider, John Grimek, Jack LaLanne, Bill Pearl, Steve Reeves, Rachel Mc Lish, Robert Kennedy. The writers, photographers, magazine editors and models where all there at the Redondo Performing Arts theater. We received write-ups in five major magazines and the four full page spread in Muscle Mag International magazine.

Years later in other awards shows we added “Sports Award”, “Model of Year” and T.V legends. Please see picture on non other than baseballs Barry Bonds honored for “sports awards” and Clint Walker for T.V. and Movie awards. The Models took hold of the show with Debbie Kruck and Winning “Model of the Year” and Monica Brant winning “Fitness Model of the Year”.

We hope to honor many more models and athletes as part of our shows in 2006-2007.
